Three reasons. The busiest day is Sunday, so the clean has to land on Saturday or early Sunday, not on a weeknight. Traffic comes in waves: a quiet week, then a funeral for three hundred and a lunch in the hall. And some things in a church are not ours to move. We ask before touching anything on or near the altar, and we work around the sacristan and the altar guild rather than over them. ## What did the rectory clean look like? A rectory is a home that belongs to a parish, and the person living in it rarely chose it. The brief there was not only clean but calm: a space that felt peaceful to come back to.
